Jay Merriweather, Jostin DeCastro and Weshly Rosario combined for 54 points as Reading High defeated Gov. Mifflin 66-57 in a BCIAA Division 1 boys basketball game on Monday night.
Merriweather had 22 points, hitting four 3-pointers. DeCastro and Rosario each had 16 points for the Red Knights (8-3, 3-2).
Reading High took a 21-14 lead after the first quarter as Merriweather and Rosario each had 5 points.
Gov. Mifflin (6-6, 1-4) pulled to within 33-29 at halftime as Ian Fleming scored 10 of his team-high 22 points.
In the third quarter, DeCastro and Merriweather each had 6 points as the Red Knights stretched the lead to 49-41.
Also for the Mustangs, John Lachina scored 12 points.
Fleetwood 40, Wyomissing 38
Trailing by a point heading into the final quarter, Fleetwood outscored Wyomissing 9-6 for a 40-38 BCIAA Division 3 win over the Spartans.
Fleetwood moved into a tie for first place with Wyomissing in the division, as each team stands 3-1. Fleetwood is 7-5 overall and Wyomissing is 6-4.
Fleetwood’s Mason Senna scored 4 of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter.
Daniel Moyer led Wyomissing with 16 points and Dom Arguelles had 10.
