Arvo Leola
OBITUARY
Arvo Leola, 74, of Newton Twp. Passed away peacefully at Oak Ridge Health Center surrounded by his family members that were closest to him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Leola.
Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Lembit and Dagmar Ostermann Leola. He was a graduate of Forest City High School and Penn State University, Scranton campus where he was a star athlete playing baseball and basketball. Arvo was the captain of the basketball team.
Prior to retirement, Arvo worked for Toyota of Scranton as the Parts Professional and was named Employee of the Month, September 2023.
Surviving are his step-children, Ted Lubeck and companion, Teresa Shultz, North Carolina, Terri Winowich and husband, Greg, North Carolina and Tracy Lubeck and companion, Ron Traver, Scranton. His brothers, Tony Leola and wife, Mary, New Jersey and Sam Leola and companion, Debora Frisby, MS. His sister, Tina Alnick and husband, Steve, Pleasant Mt, PA. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers in law, Robert Krizek and Ronald Stevens, his sister Siret Leola Krizer, sister in law Emmy Lou Stevens and infant granddaughter, Hayley Traver.
The family would like to thank: GCMC – Scranton, Dr. Michael Kondash, Mike Lucas PAC, all staff at Oak Ridge Taylor, and Serenity Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
The funeral will be private at Arvos request. Funeral arrangements are being made by Lawrence E. Young Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc.
