Betty M. Salaski, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, surrounded by her loving sons. She was born on March 30, 1936, in Bethlehem, PA, to the late Michele A. & Julia (Chicci) Matteo. 

Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, & great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her devoted sons, Ben Salaski & his wife Sandy of Blakeslee, PA, Chris Salaski & his wife Shanley of Peachtree City, GA, & Mike Salaski of Bethlehem, PA. Her legacy of love continues through her five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, & two great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward for generations to come. Betty is survived by her sister, Rosalyn Duffy, who shared countless cherished family moments together. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her siblings, Evelyn McCoach, Dominic Martin, & Dorothy Leavy. Despite their parting, Betty held a special place in her heart for her ex-husband, Walter Salaski, whom she loved dearly. 

A proud graduate of Liberty High School, Betty’s zest for knowledge & community engagement shone brightly throughout her life. Her career spanned 30 years at Guardian Insurance, where she was not only a dedicated employee but also a cherished colleague. Her retirement was a celebration of her hard work & dedication, but it was also the beginning of a new chapter filled with her passions & interests. 

Betty’s involvement with the Beta Sigma Phi sorority was a testament to her commitment to sisterhood & service. Her love for plants & painting reflected her appreciation for beauty & creativity, which she shared generously with others. A faithful & generous member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Betty centered her beliefs on the teachings of Jesus, exemplified by her concern for the sick & less fortunate. 

Betty’s life was defined by her deep dedication to her family. While working a full time job over 4 decades, she made the time for caring for her children, attending their sporting events, keeping a beautiful home, & jointly organizing broader family reunions to strengthen the bonds of many. Her presence was a gift, & her memory will continue to be a source of comfort & inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Road, Bethlehem, PA 18020, where family & friends may pay their respects from 10 A.M. until the start of the service. Interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, 2575 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18017. Betty’s services have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
