Erie police impound vehicle in fatal hit-and-run investigation

Erie police said they’ve impounded a vehicle they suspect of being involved in a fatal December hit-and-run in downtown Erie.

Police said they recovered a Dodge Durango in Harborcreek Township, though no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named at this time.

That fatal crash happened at West 8th and Liberty on December 9, around 6:50 pm, killing a 66-year-old man who was riding his bike.

According to Erie police, a bicyclist was hit by a redish-orangish SUV heading eastbound on 8th Street. Investigators on the scene said the man riding the bicycle was pronounced dead at the hospital just before 8 p.m.
