With the first week of school behind us and the holidays (mostly) packed away until next year, this is a great weekend to get out and explore in Pittsburgh. We’ve got a guide to the whole month of January, as well as tips for skiing with kids.

Check out these top local events before making your weekend plans:

Friday, Jan. 9-Sunday, Jan. 11: Pittsburgh RV Show at David L. Lawrence Convention Center

Are you already a camping family, looking to become one, or just looking for a way to burn off some energy indoors this weekend, while seeing amazing RVs and outdoor equipment? The Pittsburgh RV Show also runs the following weekend, and admission begins at $6 (kids under 6 are free).

This series includes breakfast, hands-on activities, videos and group discussions that help families explore important topics like careers, budgeting, and media literacy. This event occurs all four Saturdays in January and is designed for kids ages 6-11. Each two-hour session follows a fun “Eat, Explore, Make, Share” structure, giving families a chance to learn together, create projects, and enjoy take-home activities to continue the experience.  This event is free, but registration is required. (Participants are asked to register for the entire four-week series, if possible.)

A National Aviary ambassador bird will greet guests, setting the tone for a mindful, uplifting practice inspired by the graceful movements of our feathered friends. All registered guests will also receive same-day Aviary tickets for just $13 (nearly 40% off regular admission). After yoga, explore immersive habitats and meet the real-life species that inspire your practice, from flamingos to owls. This event requires registration and is for kids and adults ages 14 and older.

Sunday, Jan. 11: Paint a Snowflake at Do It Best Ambridge Home Center, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
