Officers from the Reading Town Centre Team went to an address on Wednesday (08/01) following reports from members of the public that there was a suspected brothel operating.

After entering the property, officers quickly confirmed that it was being used as a brothel.

Several men and two women were found inside the premises during the operation.

Police immediately took steps to safeguard the women, while a man believed to be facilitating the activity was taken into custody.

An emergency closure order was issued as part of the enforcement action.

Police thanked the public for reporting the issue, saying: “Information from the community plays a vital role in helping us keep people safe.”

Police also reaffirmed that they would not tolerate violence, exploitation, or abuse against women.
