READING, Pa. – A teen charged in the murder of a 30-year-old Reading woman is headed to trial, authorities say.

18-year-old Henry Mendoza pleaded not guilty Wednesday to the June 15, 2023 murder of Natalie Classen.

Police allege Mendoza shot Classen on the corner of N. 10th & Greenwich Streets. She later died at the hospital. Mendoza, 17 at the time, was charged as an adult.

At the time of Classen’s murder, Mendoza was already facing charges that stemmed from a June 11, 2023 shooting near 13th and Green streets that left a 22-year-old man and 15-year-old boy with serious injuries.

Investigators allege Mendoza and 44-year-old Bonef Hassell were the shooters in that case. Both were charged with attempted murder. 

Court officials say a status hearing for the Classen case will be held in the future to determine a trial date.
