READING, Pa. – A Reading man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into the sexual abuse of two children.
53-year-old Martin Acevedo is charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, intimidation of witnesses or victims and related offenses.
The Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives received multiple Childline Referrals from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, which reported two juveniles had previously been sexually abused by the suspect.
Forensic interviews were conducted with both victims, with one disclosing that Acevedo sexually abused them on multiple occasions starting when they were 6 years old.
The victim told detectives the abuse occurred at two separate residences located within the City of Reading, and that the suspect threatened to harm the victim’s mother if they ever disclosed the abuse.
According to investigators, the other victim also confirmed that Acevedo sexually abused them on multiple occasions starting when they were 5 years of age. The abuse reportedly occurred at a Reading residence.
Police say several juveniles witnessed or were aware of the abuse being perpetrated against the two victims by the suspect.
Acevedo was taken into custody Wednesday at his Reading residence by Berks County Detectives.
