POCONO TWP., Pa. – Authorities are accusing a man of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at a resort in Monroe County while she was unconscious.
Stephen Jones, of Allentown, faces multiple charges, including rape of an unconscious victim, rape of a substantially impaired person, and sexual assault, according to court paperwork.
He was arrested and arraigned Friday and faces a preliminary hearing on Jan. 21. He will await extradition to Monroe County, according to a news release from the Pocono Township Police Department.
On May 1, 2025, the Bushkill Township Police Department in Northampton County contacted officers from the Pocono Township Police Department regarding an inappropriate relationship between an adult and minor, township police said.
The Bushkill Township Police Officer said that a vehicle Jones was driving was stopped shortly after midnight on April 26, 2025, according to the news release.
Police said he had a 16-year-old girl in the vehicle.
Bushkill Township Police investigated Jones and found that he and the juvenile were involved in a relationship, Pocono Township police said.
Pocono Township police said further investigation showed that the two had possibly spent time together at the Chateau Resort on February 14, 2025.
Officers investigated the relationship between Jones and the girl and found that they had been seeing each other since the summer of 2024, when the victim was 15 years old, according to the news release.
Officers found evidence that on February 14, 2025, the two traveled to the Crossings Outlets, where Jones purchased the victim several pieces of clothing, Pocono Township police said.
Police said Jones then took the victim to the Chateau Resort and rented a room for the night.
At the Chateau Resort, Jones provided the victim hard alcohol drinks until she passed out and became unconscious, according to the news release.
At this time, police said Jones began sexually assaulting the victim until she was awakened by the assault and told Jones to stop, which he did, Pocono Township police said.
According to Pocono Township police, Jones then left the resort and left the victim alone in the room until the next day, when he returned, picked the girl up, and drove her home.
