PITTSBURGH, PA — Prepare for some wild weather today in the Pittsburgh metro area.

According to the National Weather Service, a line of gusty showers will accompany a cold front across the region. Sustained wind of 10 to 20 mph out of the southwest will occasionally gust to between 30 and 40 mph through the afternoon. Peak wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible in the briefly heavier rain showers.

There is still some modest potential for isolated gusts of up to 60 mph. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings will be issued if such gusts become likely.

Strong winds can blow around loose and unsecured objects. The weather service advises that people ensure that all outdoor decorations, furniture, and other objects are either secure or brought indoors.
