Finally, after months of detours and shuttle buses, SEPTA is reopening the Center City Trolley Tunnel.
Starting on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026 at 5 a.m. all T trolleys will be able to pass through the tunnel that had been closed since mid-November, according to SEPTA.
SEPTA says that its crews have replaced nearly 5,000 feet of overhead wires in the tunnel.
The transit agency warns riders that there are still some wires that need to be replaced along the five mile tunnel so weekend closures are expected.
Whenever the tunnel is closed, there will be a T Bus Shuttle service for riders traveling between 40th and 15th streets, officials said.
