Brendan Carney shot a 1-over-par 72 for the Cavaliers. Mike Gross added a 74 and Bill Ciccotti carded a 77. … Whitney Williams scored four goals, including the 100th of her career, as Mountain View beat Elk Lake, 8-2, in a Lackawanna League Northern Division girls soccer game. … Zach Lasavage ran for a school-record 339 yards and scored three touchdowns on 19 carries as Carbondale Area blanked Dunmore, 28-0, in a Lackawanna Football Conference Division II game. Lasavage broke the mark of 326 yards set by Jim Tierney in 1986. …  Michel Ouellet had two goals and one assist as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 8-3, to run their season-opening winning streak to seven games.

Goalie Tristan Jarry stopped 35 shots in his professional debut as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins handed the Bridgeport Sound Tigers their first loss of the season after a 5-0 start, 5-1. … Justin Hammert scored three second-half goals to rally Scranton Prep to a 3-1 win over Abington Heights and clinch the Lackawanna League Division I boys soccer title, the Cavaliers’ first division crown since 2003. … Austin Cernek ran for four touchdowns and Dylan Kelly caught three passes for 91 yards and a touchdown and returned a kickoff 79 yards for a score as Delaware Valley outlasted Scranton, 52-33, in Lackawanna Football Conference Division I football game. … Mikkell Green ran for 301 yards and five touchdowns as Riverside beat Montrose, 51-20. Three of his TD runs went for 50 or more yards.
