The Pittsburgh Penguins will not have top-line winger Bryan Rust in the lineup Saturday when they host the Calgary Flames at PPG Paints Arena.
Coach Dan Muse announced that Rust is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury and forward Kevin Hayes would be in the lineup.
Muse did not announce the lines, who would take Rust’s spot beside Sidney Crosby, or where Hayes would slot into the lineup.
In response to the Rust injury, the team made what Muse termed a “precautionary” recall. The team recalled scrappy winger Rafael Harvey Pinard from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
After an initial burst in training camp. Harvey-Pinard faded and was assigned to WBS. In 32 AHL games this season, Harvey-Pinard has 13 points, including seven goals.
Harvey-Pinard, 27, has 84 games of NHL experience, exclusively with the Montreal Canadiens, scoring 17 goals and registering 31 points. He had 14 goals in 34 games during his rookie season, 2022-23.
