SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — The Everhart Museum in Scranton is showing a sneak peak of its newest exhibit and it’s out of this world.

The second floor of the Everhart museum will display it’s ‘Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe’ exhibit starting on Wednesday but this weekend, visitors were able to walk through while staff put the finishing touches on the displays.

The exhibition features a scale model of the telescope, pictures it has taken, and explanations on how it works and is repaired.

“It’s really cool to see all of these different images. I know we got a kick out of the infrared, you know, being able to put your hand underneath and see what the infrared camera picks up. So, it’s just really interesting and I love that these exhibits are being brought to Scranton,” said Elizabeth O’Malley, a museum visitor.

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched into space in 1990 and for the last 36 years have been taking pictures of our universe that were previously unobtainable. In 2021, the James Webb Telescope was launched and beat the Hubble telescope to become the most powerful space telescope ever made.

The exhibit will run until July.
