A man was arrested Sunday night after an hours-long standoff in Easton.
Officers were called about 4:30 p.m. to the 300 block of West St. Joseph’s Street for a report of an assault, according to a city police news release. The suspect, 34-year-old Sean West, fled into the home and refused to come out, authorities said.
Police said West threatened officers and indicated that he had a handgun. He also barricaded the doors and windows, police added.
A special response unit and crisis negotiation team responded, and the standoff continued for five hours. The special response team entered the home and found West hiding in a closet on the second floor, police said.
West faces charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, making terroristic threats, harassment, unlawful restraint and burglary. He will be arraigned Monday morning.
