A male under the age of 18 died from gunshot wounds in a restaurant just off Temple University’s campus on Monday afternoon, police said.

Police were called to the intersection of North 12th Street and Montgomery Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. for a report of a gunshot victim, police said.

The unidentified juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:24 p.m., police said.

According to an email sent to students, the shooting happened inside the bathroom of a restaurant.

Officials said that a person of interest was captured on camera running away from the scene after the shooting.

NBC10’s Johnny Archer was at the scene to see the investigation focusing on the inside of a Chipotle, but it is still not clear where the shooting took place.

Students at Temple University were being warned to avoid a section near campus because of the police activity there.

The Temple University Police Department is responding to the investigation being led by the Philadelphia Police Department, according to a spokesperson for the school.

No arrests or motives have been announced.
