With the Steelers losing to the Texans, local fans are disappointed but looking toward the future.
SCRANTON, Pa. — Deep within Eagles country lies a refuge for Steelers fans called the Penalty Box in Scranton, where they cheer on the only remaining Pennsylvania team this season.
“I just think that they’re the better team. I think Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback. I think we haven’t had a losing season in twenty-some years, and the Texans are kind of new, and they’re not used to the playoffs, so I think we’re just going to beat them,” said Steven Sallurday of Scranton.
But unfortunately, things did not go the Steelers’ way, despite all the high hopes people had as the game played on.
“I feel good. I just feel like Texas’s defense is pretty good, but we can stop it. So far right now, DK Metcalf is doing pretty good,” said Logan Walton from Old Forge.
“After last week’s win, I think we’re over that hump, I think we’re going to get through this, we’re going to finally advance to the second round,” said Eric Miller of Scranton.
“I feel pretty confident, Mike Tomlin, he’s undefeated at home, I feel like our team’s got a lot higher headspace right now that they got the win last week and were able to make it to the playoffs,” said Bobby Walls of Scranton.
But every season comes to an end, sometimes with a ring, but other times finishing out with another season on the horizon.
“I mean, we had a good season, no matter what. I’m still going to be happy, we made it to the playoffs, more than happy,” said Walton.
“Hopefully next year, we do a lot better, maybe do better in offense, because our offense is not that good, so hopefully we can pick up some free agents, and sign some players, and hopefully next year we be better,” said Miller.
