Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority provided a $20,000 Community Assets Grant to Millcreek Township General Authority who accepted the grant today.

The grant is planned to help replace the current pavilion art Scott Park. The project will hold a partnership with the Township to strengthen community spaces, support recreation, and overall enhance the quality of life for all residents.

The project plans to replace the current pavilion with a more functional, accessible, and welcoming space that can be utilized for everyday use and community gatherings.

Through the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Act, the General Authority will carry out these projects throughout Millcreek Township including parks, recreation grounds, facilities, and more.

The project in Scott Park is being sponsored by the General Authority who will be using the grant funding available to complete the project.

As one of Millcreek Township’s most active recreational areas, Scott Park has served residents with athletic fields, trails, playgrounds, and open green space. The park has continuous usage throughout the year, hosting various sports, informal recreation, and community events.

“The picnic shelter at Scott Park is an important gathering place for our community, and this project will allow us to give that space the refresh it truly needs.” said Ashley Esper, Director of Parks and Recreation. “The pavilion is used regularly for family celebrations, group events, and everyday park enjoyment, but over time it has been impacted by weather, vandalism, and foundation concerns.” Esper continues, “through this grant, we are able to replace the shelter within the same footprint, preserving its familiar look while correcting structural issues and providing a clean, welcoming space for residents.”

The improvements that will be made with the pavilion directly align with priorities that have been identified within the Millcreek community.

“This project reflects the General Authority’s commitment to supporting Millcreek’s health and success wherever we are able,” said Matthew Waldinger, Executive Director of the Millcreek Township General Authority. “This is one example of how the Authority can leverage alternate sources of funding to assist Millcreek Township by strengthening the everyday spaces that bring residents together and contribute to a high quality of life.”

Additional project details and timelines will be shared as the improvements move forward.
