Dorothy Gale Herron
OBITUARY
Dorothy Gale Herron, age 102, of Newton Township, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 11, 2026. She was born on September 6, 1923 to Cecil and Maude Gale.
Dorothy was raised in Duryea, where she met her future husband, Richard R. Herron. Dorothy (Dot) worked in the lunchroom at Abington Heights School District and also worked for many years at Scranton Label, Inc. When Dorothy wasn’t working, she loved to work at her hobbies, which were gardening, crocheting and knitting. She was a member of Countryside Community Church in Newton, PA.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard R. Herron; her son, Richard R. Herron, Jr.; brothers William Gale and Nicholas Gale; and son-in-law Edmund J. Carr.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Darlene J. Carr; grandchildren Edmund R. Carr and wife Terisa, Tami J. Carr, Kevin J. Carr, and Renee Herron; her great grandchildren Corey Carr, Emily Gallagher, Liv and Jade Grunza, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Jacob and Bella Carr; great great grandchildren Noah and Adam Carr; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 6 pm on Thursday at Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Clarks Summit, with services by Rev. TJ McCabe. Friends may pay their respects at the church from 4 pm until the time of the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
