SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man is in custody and is facing several charges as authorities continue a death investigation in Scranton.

The Scranton Police Department says on Friday, January 9, they, along with Dickson City and Throop Police Departments, took 19-year-old James “JB” Barbarino from Dickson City into custody.

Police explain that Barbarino was found at a home in Dickson City, where he was wanted for firearms theft and other related charges.

Authorities say previously, on November 30, the firearm was stolen from an Archbald residence, then recovered on December 12, 2025, in a death investigation on Bryn Mawr Street.

Barbarino is facing several charges, including receiving stolen property, sale of firearms, and other related charges, according to Scranton police.
