Butler Twp. Police have charged a Scranton man in connection with a theft from his workplace.

Daniel T. Brennan, 61, was charged with felony retail theft and receiving stolen property following a series of thefts last year at Best Cigar Prices & Pub, located on Hillside Drive in Butler Twp.

According to a criminal complaint, an employee was reviewing video of an inventory movement when he observed Brennan concealing cigars in his personal travel case.

Through an investigation it was revealed that on five occasions during July and August Brennan removed a total of more than 600 cigars, accessories and company apparel from the retail store area.

The thefts resulted in a total loss of $9,055.

Brennan had only been employed a short time before the thefts were discovered.

Brennan surrendered to police on Tuesday and was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Daniel O’Donnell who set bail at $20,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled later this month.
