The Erie School Board will be having their monthly meeting on Wednesday night, one of the items on the agenda is starting the discussions about the board’s decision to combine high schools in 2017.
Almost ten years ago, the school board made the decision to combine high schools and middle schools and have one high school with Erie High. This was due to a number of reasons including finances.
Years later, there are different school board members and a new superintendent, some school board members want to revisit the topic, especially with concerns about overcrowding.
John Harkins, a long-time school board member explained, “We have a new superintendent and all those things coming together. Plus we are in the midst of our strategic plan development. I just thought it was good before the board went off in other different directions to just stop and take a look at what we did in 2017 and reaffirm that that’s the way we want to continue or if we want to take some other approach to configuring the logistics of where to put our students.”
The meeting is set for tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the School Board Administration building on Sassafras Street.
Erie News Now will be there and bring you the latest out of the meeting, tonight on Erie News Now at 11:00 p.m.
