HOLIDAY CLOSURE: All SVSD schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. According to the district’s calendar it is an Act 80 day, or professional development day for teachers and staff.
UNIFIED BOCCE FANS in the STANDS: Saucon Valley will face off against East Stroudsburg North in the high school gym on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 3 p.m. Free admission.
MATILDA JR.: Saucon Valley grades 6-8 will present their production of Matilda Jr. Jan. 16 and 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Jan. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtimes. Tickets to the shows are available for purchase online.
SVHS SCHOLASTIC SCRIMMAGE PLACEMENTS: Saucon’s team has had a strong showing in two recent Scholastic Scrimmage events. On Dec. 10, the team placed 1st in Pennsylvania and 18th nationally during the 30-20-10 virtual challenge, answering 80 multi-part questions in under two hours. Then, on Jan. 8, SVHS competed in the PBS39 WLVT-TV championship match. This was Saucon Valley’s first finals appearance since 1997. The team finished as runner-up in a competitive showdown against Moravian Academy. Watch the team compete in episodes available for viewing on the WLVT-TV website.
