James Curtis Jaycox, Sr. age 87 of Dyersburg, TN. died Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at West Tennessee Healthcare- Dyersburg, TN. Arrangements are entrusted to McCreight Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, 11:00a.m.-12:55p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church 539 E. Court St. Dyersburg, TN. Funeral service will follow at 1:00p.m. with Pastor Mitchell Matthew officiating. Burial will be held in New Cemetery in Maury City, TN. Pallbearers serving will be Deacons of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

James Curtis Jaycox, 87, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on December 31, 2025. He was born in Erie, PA, on January 4, 1938, to Jerry Jaycox and Anna Mae Mayhew. James is survived by his wife, Mary I. Jaycox; his beloved children, Clarissa Baker of Erie, PA, James Jaycox of Erie, PA, Pamela Snow of Erie, PA, Sharon Jaycox of Goodyear, AZ, Anna Jeffress (Guil) of Erie, PA, and Mary Lavender (Joel) of Dallas, TX; his brother, Jessie Jaycox of Erie, PA; his sister, Gertrude Mitchell of Erie, PA; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Jaycox; his mother, Anna Mae Mayhew; his sons, Stephen Jaycox and Thomas Jaycox; his sisters, Anna May Bush and June Hargrove; and his brothers, Winston Jaycox, Jerry Jaycox Jr., Franklin Jaycox, Louis Jaycox, Thomas Jaycox, and Anthony Jaycox.

James graduated from Erie Technical Memorial High School in 1957 and later earned an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania. His career included positions at Bucyrus Erie in Erie PA; ERTL Toy Company in Erie, PA; General Electric in Erie, PA; AO Smith in Erie, PA; and John Deere in Waterloo, IA, and SGL GE Carbon, Hickman Kentucky. After retirement, he remained active with several organizations. He was a Funeral Assistant with McCreight Funeral Home.

James enjoyed golfing, traveling, dancing, roller skating, cross-country driving, mentoring young men and women, participating in vacation Bible school, working with people, and savoring a good, juicy steak.
