The Berks County Democratic Committee joins with all Americans of good conscience in expressing our condolences to the family of Renee Good of Minneapolis. We should all be horrified that a human being was shot and killed by an agency of our federal government.
It has been stated many times that Immigration and Customs Enforcement being responsible for a death was predictable and preventable. We are aghast that the investigation has now been taken over solely by the FBI, and local law enforcement has been completely sidelined.
In the immediate response by Homeland Security and the president, the victim was referred to as a domestic terrorist, and the killing was being called an act of self-defense prior to any investigation of facts.
We have all seen the videos. The American people are smart enough to know when their government is gaslighting them instead of taking responsibility.
This is a true tragedy and needs to make us all aware of what an authoritarian regime looks like. Terrorizing communities does not make us safer.
