A program that helps the elderly in northwestern Pennsylvania live independently welcomed some special visitors on Thursday.

Living Independence For the Elderly (LIFE) provides Pennsylvanians 55 and older with the opportunity to live at home with the support they need.

On Thursday, state representatives Pat Harkins, Robert Merski and Ryan Bizzaro visited LIFE-NWPA to learn more about the services they offer to seniors.

Representatives from LIFE said that they hope this visit will encourage continued support from the state so that the community can continue to access these services.

“We’re looking at trying to get the line of what otherwise might have been paid by the state to stay the same so that we can continue operations as well as trying to get some more education out to the community,” said Shelby Bailey, a provider liaison for LIFE-NWPA.

The company said that they need our lawmakers’ support to continue to protect our seniors.
