BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Three suspects have been charged in a strong-arm robbery of a township pharmacy after driving from New York to commit the crime, police said.
The Bensalem Township Police responded on Thursday to Smart Choice Pharmacy at 1941 Street Road for a report of a strong-arm robbery.
Police found that three suspects assaulted a delivery driver who was dropping off medication. They then stole two boxes containing the medications Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Trulicity, valued at about $16,000.
The suspects fled the area in a gold-colored Toyota, nearly striking a nearby witness who was attempting to record the incident, police said.
Bensalem Police located the vehicle in the 3600 block of Street Road and conducted a traffic stop.
The suspects, 41-year-old Joshua Dupree from Tamaqua, PA, 21-year-old Jahnoi Dawkins from Albany, NY, and a 17-year-old man from New York City, were positively identified by the victim and taken into custody.
Police said a search of the vehicle yielded the stolen items taken during the robbery.
Pharmacy staff reported that they had received suspicious phone calls and emails in the days leading up to the incident, requesting information about the delivery order.
Dupree, Dawkins, and the juvenile male were all charged with Robbery, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Simple Assault, and related offenses.
Dupree and Dawkins were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Michael Gallagher, who set Dupree’s bail at 10 percent of $150,000 and Dawkins’ bail at 10 percent of $250,000.
Both were remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility. The juvenile male was remanded to Bucks County Youth Detention Center.
