The 21st annual Fitzy’s Halloween 5K Run and 1.5 Mile Walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at the West Reading Playground, 505 Sycamore Road. The event is a fundraiser for Lauren’s Foundation, a Wyomissing-based nonprofit organization.

A Kid’s Trick or Treat Dash takes place at 11:30 and is open to ages 12 and under (no registration required). Kids will receive a free Halloween bag with goodies while supplies last. Food trucks will be on hand. There will be costume contests, entertainment and a health fair. Supervised child care (ages 2+), is available.
Proceeds are used to provide assistance for Berks families with seriously ill children, scholarships for students in need and to fund brain tumor research and organ donation awareness.
Art and craft festival
The Reading-Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen is celebrating its 75th Juried Holiday Fine Art and Craft Festival in the O’Pake Fieldhouse at Kutztown University on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26, from 10 to 3.
The event features a selection of traditional and contemporary works created by artisans from Pennsylvania and beyond. There will be a Student Gallery with emerging artists along with music and food.
The event is presented in partnership with the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center and Kutztown University. Admission fee is a $6 donation. Children 12 and under get in free. Learn more at rbcrafts.org.
Junior League bingo
The Junior League of Reading is holding its annual bingo fundraiser on Nov. 2, at Bellevue Plaza Hall in Muhlenberg Township. The event will raise funds for local youth empowerment initiatives. Doors open at noon, with play beginning at 1:30. The event is open to people ages 12 and older (players under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). Tickets are $25 in advance at www.jlreading.org/fundraisers or $30 at the door.
There will be 20 rounds of prize bingo, special cash games, a chance auction and a 50/50 raffle, plus concessions offering lunch, snacks and desserts.

Holiday pie sale
The Friends of Mifflin Community Library holiday pie fundraiser features apple, apple caramel walnut, blackberry, peach, pumpkin and strawberry rhubarb flavors. Pies are 9 inches and made with fresh fruit before being frozen and boxed, ready to eat.

Dog rescue reunion
Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue will hold its annual reunion, “Celebrating Superheroes,” on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Golden Gateway facility, 60 Vera Cruz Rd., Reinholds.
The event celebrates dogs adopted through the rescue, their adopters and the organization’s volunteers and staff. Dogs at the event must be DVGRR-adopted; but the program is open to the public for those interested in learning more about the organization. There will be food for sale. The onsite retail store will be open, and there will be raffles and canine games. A costume parade begins at 11:30.

One United Church of Christ, 1730 New Holland Road, Kenhorst, will hold its annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It features vendors, a gift basket raffle, homemade food, cookies and church-made apple dumplings and candy for sale..
Turkey supper
St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Amityville, is holding its annual turkey supper on Nov. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. The church is located at 1979 Weavertown Road in Amity Township. Dinners are $16 for adults and $8 for children ages 4-8. Children under 4 eat free. Takeout dinners cost $16. The buffet-style dinner includes turkey, potato filling, green beans, corn, pepper cabbage, cranberry sauce, roll and butter. Soup, coffee and pie also will be served.
The church is holding a White Elephant Indoor Yard Sale on Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Nov. 1 starting at 8 p.m.

Cranksgiving food drive
The 12th annual Cranksgiving Berks County will be held Saturday, Oct. 25 starting at 9:30 a.m. The event is a food drive done completely by bicycle.
Go to the Victor Emmanuel II Beneficial Society, 311 Hazel St., Reading, on the day of the event. Participants will receive a list of grocery stores to visit and items to be purchased. They will then head out on their bicycles and ollect as many items as they can.

Apron workshop
Daniel Boone Homestead is hosting a fall apron workshop on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Wayside Lodge at the Exeter Township historic site. Historian Becky Hughes and The Hopewell Quilters will offer a beginner sewing workshop on aprons. Participants will learn the history of women’s aprons and make a project to take home for the holiday baking season.
No prior sewing experience is required. Bring 1.5 yards of cotton fabric and 3 yards of ribbon. Sewing machines, thread, needles etc. will be provided.

Basket raffle
St. John’s Reformed Church, 4001 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, will hold a basket raffle on Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be dozens of baskets and other items in the raffle. Food and baked goods will be available for sale.
The fundraising event will be held in the church Fellowship Hall (lower level). Parking is behind the church or across the street at the corner of Penn Avenue and South Hull Street.
