Today is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 4 municipal election, and the deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is fast approaching.
For registered voters who need to change their name, address or party designation, today also is the last day to update that information.
To be eligible to vote in Pennsylvania, you must be at least 18 years old on Nov. 4 and a U.S. citizen and Pennsylvania resident for at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
To register in person, visit the Lancaster County elections office at 150 N. Queen St. in Lancaster. To register online, visit vote.pa.gov.
Mail ballots
The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is Tuesday, Oct. 28 — one week before the general election.
To vote by mail-in ballot, registered voters must first apply each year to do so. Voters can opt in to a permanent list to automatically receive an application to vote by mail every year. The option to join that list appears on mail-in ballot applications.
You can download and print the mail-in ballot application in English at lanc.news/Englishballot, in Spanish at lanc.news/Spanishballot, in traditional Chinese at lanc.news/Chineseballot, in simplified Chinese at lanc.news/Chineseballot2, and in Vietnamese at lanc.news/Vietnameseballot.
Fill in the application and mail it to the Lancaster County Office of Elections, 150 N. Queen St., Suite 117, Lancaster, PA 17603-3562, or drop it off directly at the elections office.
Any registered voter can apply for a mail-in ballot in person at the county elections office or online at vote.pa.gov. You will need a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or a photo ID from the state Department of Transportation.
Voters casting ballots by mail rather than voting in person must include postage on the return envelope they receive with their ballot. Mail ballots must be received in the county elections office by 8 p.m. Nov. 4, Election Day.
