ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A new spot for tacos, tortas, tostadas and other Mexican favorites is satisfying appetites in Lehigh County.
Mr. Tacos, a fast-casual eatery offering authentic Mexican cuisine, opened a couple of weeks ago at 1601 W. Liberty St. Unit 1 in Allentown.
The new restaurant is located next to a CVS store and pharmacy and a few doors down from Mary Ann Donut Kitchen.
Mr. Tacos, with seating for around 15 guests, offers appetizers such as chips with guacamole or pico de gallo and traditional tacos (3 for $12.99-$14.99) including bistec (steak), carne enchilada (marinated pork), pollo (chicken), chorizo (Mexican sausage), carnitas (braised pork), chorizo con papa (sauteed potato and Mexican sausage), lengua (beef tongue), campechano (chorizo and bistec) and birria with consommé.
Traditional tacos feature corn tortillas with meat of choice, onion and cilantro. Salsa verde or roja is served on the side.
Customers also can enjoy a wide variety of burritos, flautas, nachos, sopes, huarache, tortas, tostadas and taco salads.
Other menu highlights include quesadilla de maiz (corn tortilla filled with cheese and chicken or steak), cemitas (Mexican sandwich with fresh bread, lettuce, tomato, onion, chipotle, avocado, queso Oaxaca and meat of your choice – Milanesa de pollo or carne enchilada), chilaquiles (fried tortilla mixed with salsa verde or roja, covered with sour cream, cheese, onion and optional protein – steak, cecina, chicken or fried eggs) and enchiladas platter (chicken-filled tortillas mixed with salsa verde, rojo or mole and topped with lettuce, sour cream, cheese and onion; served with rice and beans).
The restaurant also serves up fresh desserts such as flan, choco flan, New York cheesecake and carrot cake.
In addition to dine-in service, the eatery offers takeout and delivery ($2 delivery fee; minimum $15 order for delivery).
