ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A day after the weekend snowfall and the main roads throughout Allentown are clear, but some neighborhood streets are still snowy.

That’s what Muhlenberg College student Emma Lindquist saw on Gordon St. when she left her house.

“It looks a little scary, and I haven’t driven yet today, or yesterday. This is my first time clearing off my car because I just didn’t want to,” said Lindquist.

Lindquist said it was a lot of work getting her car out of two days’ worth of snow.

“It’s been hard to shovel it out, because I parked on the street, but the actual clearing off hasn’t been too bad,” said Lundquist.

Over near Muhlenberg Elementary, Washington St. wasn’t looking much better. Lucas Heckenberger said he’s hoping to wake up Tuesday to see black pavement.

“A couple of days after the fact, we would love to see the roads be completely clear, especially with school coming back into session tomorrow, and the kids will be down here out here walking around,” said Heckenberger.

In a social media post, the City of Allentown said on Saturday its crews were out in full force, and in a phone call the City told 69 News its plow teams would remain at full staff until all the roads are clear. Heckenberger said that’s at least good to hear.

“Fingers crossed, but if you’ve been a resident in the west end like I have for 12 years, or just in the City of Allentown, you’re kind of lacking that optimism let’s say down the line. We’ll deal with it. It’ll eventually get warm, it’ll eventually melt,” said Heckenberger.
