A tanker truck driver was killed after crashing and overturning off an I-276 ramp early Monday, PennDOT said.
The crash happened along the ramp leading from eastbound I-276 to US 1 in the Trevose/Bensalem area around 1 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, according to PennDOT.
The tanker truck overturned and rolled down an embankment, according to footage from 6abc Action News and NBC Philadelphia.
The man driving the truck was trapped inside the wreckage and was later pronounced dead, officials explained.
The ramp remained closed for hours as rescue crews and heavy tow trucks worked to clear the scene, PennDOT said. Traffic was slowed through the area during the cleanup.
Further details about how the crash occurred were not immediately released. Officials also did not say whether any other vehicles were involved.
