READING, Pa. – Students at Reading High School stepped away from the classroom today to protest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) efforts.

Hundreds of students gathered at the school’s entrance with signs in support of immigrants as they chanted anti-ICE slogans.

They say America is a land of immigrants.

A school district official says the district supports the students and affirms their First Amendment rights.

The Department of Homeland Security says during the past year it has secured the border to historic levels and made hundreds of thousands of arrests.
