Love City Brewing is putting down new roots in Manayunk. The Philadelphia brewery is expanding beyond its Callowhill home for the first time, opening a two-story tasting room at 4323 Main Street.
Slated to debut in the Spring, Love City Manayunk will blend a neighborhood bar with vintage character, marking a major milestone for co-owners Melissa and Kevin Walter—and a welcome addition to one of the city’s most vibrant corridors.
“We have been looking for the right opportunity to expand for a long time,” says Melissa Walter. “We were very conscious about choosing a neighborhood that has great energy and foot traffic, as well as one that would allow our current location at 1023 Hamilton Street to continue to be successful – Manayunk checks all those boxes for us.”
Inside the expansive, two-story, 5,884-square-foot space, Love City Manayunk will feature a tasting room, a full bar (with room for a capacity of 75), plus a retail and merch area where guests can shop their favorite brews, t-shirts, hats, and more. The design of it all pays homage to the historic building as well, which most recently housed a like-minded woman-owned brewery, Fat Lady Brewing, as well as a Woolworth’s retail store, a 5 & 10 shop, and a family business of collectibles and antiques.
The second floor of the new venue will act as an event space, and can be booked for private events, parties, live music concerts, and more. Eventually, locals can also find local vendor markets that Love City Brewing is known for hosting. News on the food side will be announced at a later date, a release notes.
“We plan to continue some of the successful events that Fat Lady curated in that space,” Walter continues. “This new location allows us to continue our mission in a way that feels true to who we are: taking care of our team, serving outstanding beer and beverages of all kinds, and creating a welcoming third space where people feel they belong — whether they’re longtime regulars or walking in for the first time.”
And what can Philadelphians sip on while there? Think staples like the Unity IPA, Love City Lager, Eraserhood IPA, and many more, in addition to the locale’s list of low-, no-, and full-proof cocktails made using Pennsylvania spirits and locally sourced ingredients when possible.
The release also notes that fans can keep up with Love City Brewing on all social platforms at @lovecitybrewing, with a new account focused on the Manayunk location launching soon on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and more: @lovecitymanayunk.
