Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and composer of the musical “Hamilton,” will speak next month at Lafayette College in Easton.
He will present at 5 p.m. on Feb. 12 for the Thomas Roy and Lura Forrest Jones Visiting Lecture at the Kamine Gymnasium inside the Kirby Sports Center, Lafayette College said on its website, featuring a discussion with President Nicole Hurd.
“Miranda blended history and art seamlessly in his Tony-award winning musical Hamilton, which has become a global phenomenon and featured the Marquis de Lafayette as a significant character, originally played by Daveed Diggs,” the school said online. “As Lafayette College marks its Bicentennial in 2026, the themes of human triumph and creativity woven throughout Miranda’s artistic pursuits echo the story of our founding and inspire the future as we approach our third century.”
Current students, faculty and staff of the school can use an online form to request tickets, though a randomized lottery may be used if demand exceeds supply.
The college is also celebrating its bicentennial with limited-edition merchandise and an upcoming bronze statue of Adrienne Lafayette, the wife of the Marquis.
