Legion hosts first 2026 event

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., held its first 2026 breakfast Jan. 11 with a Valentine’s Day theme.

Post Commander Mike Rennig said he was happy with the turnout and admired the energy and dedication of his volunteer team.

Chuck Lombardi, Steve Rennig, Larry Rothrock and Carol Roach were some, but not all, of the volunteers who assisted Mike Rennig at the breakfast.

Ever-smiling Linda Rothrock staffed the breakfast ticket table and also sold raffle tickets to win a beautiful Valentine’s Day basket with a value in excess of $100.

The Post, under the leadership of Mike Rennig and his volunteer team, plans to continue growing its social activities and community outreach in 2026.

The Post is planning to hold a clock raffle 1-6 p.m. March 15 in the Post’s social hall. A clock raffle is a fundraising event structured around time, where prizes are drawn at specific intervals. Rennig noted the last clock raffle at the Post collectively awarded about $4,000 to attendees.

The Legion teamed up with the Catasauqua Main Streets group, under the leadership of borough council Vice President Kim Brubaker, during the past couple years to promote, sell and distribute banners honoring Catasauqua veterans. The popular Hometown Hero banners, honoring those who served the nation, line borough streets, with an additional round of banners to come out later this year.

Always fun, the Post also holds an annual Easter egg hunt as well as a Santa breakfast during the Christmas season.

A semiformal event was hosted at the Legion social hall by the George Taylor House in 2024. The event was a red carpet viewing party that included Interstate Paranormal Research that evaluated the George Taylor House and found paranormal activity there. The George Taylor House was featured in a cable TV episode of “Ghost Hunters.”

The social hall can be rented by calling 610-264-1606. Wedding receptions, school graduations, anniversary and birthday celebrations and other social gatherings are standard rentals of the social hall.

The Post hours of operation are 5-10 p.m. Tuesdays, 3-9 p.m. Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m. Thursdays, 5-11 p.m. Fridays, 5-9 p.m. Saturdays and 1-8 p.m. Sundays. There is a full bar and food for sale.

Visit or call the Post at 610-264-1606 to join and be a social member that supports the Legion’s efforts growing diverse events to make Catasauqua a better community.
