The Wyoming Area school board approved the Program of Studies for secondary and middle school students for the 2026-2027 school year at Wednesday’s board meeting.
Wyoming Area Superintendent Jon Pollard said there will be changes to the curriculum and schedule.
He said the philosophy is to provide adequate time for instruction focused on ensuring students are prepared to function in society, pass standardized tests, pursue careers, enter secondary education, and serve in the military, etc.
“Dr. Pollard and Mr. Reilly have worked tirelessly on the new schedule and new curriculum,” said Board President Mara Valenti. “I couldn’t be prouder of what they have come up with.”
Pollard said there will likely be changes to the electives offered and the number of periods per day. Though it will not affect the length of the day.
More information will be released at a later date. Pollard discussed plans for a possible open house to address changes.
“I think the future of Wyoming Area is very bright, and the success of these students is going to be evident with some of these changes,” Valenti said.
