A significant step towards digital inclusion has been made by Millcreek Township. A new website tool called AudioEye will be available for accessibility and ADA compliance platform.

The feature allows for the ongoing commitment from the community to ensure that all regardless of their ability can access the Township’s information and services online.

The AudioEye toolbar identifies and restore possible digital barriers for those with disabilities allowing for all to easily access important information. In real time the tool is able to detect and fix the common occurring issues including low contrast, missing alternative text, keyboard navigation obstacles, and other barriers. These barriers prove difficult for those with visual, motor, cognitive, or hearing impairments.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and ADA standards are being followed to ensure that the platform is a more inclusive experience for all.

“Digital access is essential for participation in community life,” said Township Supervisor Kylie Morris, DO. “By integrating AudioEye into our website, Millcreek Township has taken a step toward removing barriers and ensuring everyone can engage with our services, resources, and information.”

Customizable controls are also available to users allowing for contrast settings, screen reader compatibility, adjustable fonts, and support features that cater to individual’s needs. Issues with the tool can be reported to ensure that the accessibility improves over time.

“Our focus is on inclusive service,” said Community Relations and Sustainability director, Jessica Stutzman. “This enhancement reinforces our belief that access to information is a right, not a privilege. We are committed to continuous improvement and to making digital spaces welcoming to all members of our community.”

Residents, businesses, and visitors are invited to explore the new accessibility features on the Millcreek Township website at www.millcreektownship.com. Residents are also encouraged to share feedback to the Township so they can improve access to digital content.

AudioEye can be found on bottom right corner. The icon is a small silhouette of a person inside a blue bubble. Once users select this icon it will bring up the menu with various accessibility features.
