OBITUARY

Mary Ann Donovan, 90, a longtime resident of Minooka, passed away Monday morning peacefully at home. Her husband of 63 years was Robert Donovan, Sr, who passed away in 2020.

Born July 26, 1935 and raised in West Scranton, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Leidinger Lilly. Mary Ann was a graduate of St. Ann’s High School. Mary Ann had a long dedicated career with Bell Telephone working in Customer Service and was a proud member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers. A devoted member of Divine Mercy Parish, originally St. Joseph’s Church, Minooka, Mary Ann was a very active parishioner and a true pillar of the church community. She was a dedicated choir member, never missing a practice. Mary Ann faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD instructor, parish picnic volunteer, parish funeral luncheon volunteer, and the Women’s Guild. If the church needed someone, Mary Ann was always front and center. Mary Ann’s love of crafting played a central role in her service, as she was a founding member of the parish’s annual craft show, now in its 27th year. Her passing will be deeply felt but her warm smile and unending passion for her church community, family, and friends will never be forgotten.

A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mary Ann took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To say she loved them all was an understatement, she adored them very much and attended every game and event. Every one of them knew they had the biggest cheerleader on their side. Although taken from us, her legacy and love of family will live on for generations to come.

Surviving are her loving children, Mary Pat Flannelly, Moosic, Robert Donovan, Jr., and wife, Linda, Old Forge, Michael Donovan, and wife, Susan, Minooka, and David Donovan, Moosic; ten adoring grandchildren, and 3 precious great grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “GiGi”; siblings, Robert Lilly, Carbondale, Dorothy Murray, and husband, Joe, Moosic; a brother-in-law, Paul Weir, CT, and several nieces , nephews and cousins.

Brother, John Lilly, sister, Kathleen Weir, son-in-law, James P. Flannelly, daughter -in-law Jill Donovan and grandson, T.J. Flannelly, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday beginning at 9:15 AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton (Minooka), with Rev. Paul McDonnell, pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scranton.

Relative and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 4PM to 7PM in the funeral home.
