ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A young man is dead after a shooting in Allentown on Thursday.

Gunshots rang out just after 9 p.m. in the 500 block of Carrot Street, the alley behind Washington Street.

A 19-year-old man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio.

His death was ruled a homicide.

An autopsy is set for Friday.

The coroner’s office is not yet releasing the man’s name.

It is not yet known if anyone has been taken into custody.

Authorities are investigating.
