The Diocese of Scranton encourages parishioners to go to Mass on Saturday evening to fulfil their weekly obligation. “The Diocese strongly encourages the faithful to exercise caution and prudent judgment when making travel decisions for Mass this weekend,” the diocese posted on its website. Severe weather is one of the “grave reasons” that can excuse missing Mass, the statement said. Parishioners who can’t make it are encouraged to watch their parish livestream or the Mass that is televised and streamed from St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton on CTV: Catholic Television of the Diocese of Scranton. The Mass is broadcast live every Saturday at 5:30 p.m., and is rebroadcast Sunday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Mass is also available on the Diocese of Scranton website and the Diocese of Scranton YouTube channel. Check parish social media sites for updates. “The Diocese of Scranton asks all parishioners to follow guidance from state and local emergency officials throughout the duration of the storm.”
First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit’s Sunday worship service is canceled, along with meetings and programs. If the snowstorm cancels public schools Monday, the church office will close as well.
