Robert Vincent Zoppel

OBITUARY

Robert Vincent Zoppel, 79, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away Sunday morning, January 4th, at Laurel Center, Hamburg, PA.

Robert was born in Jersey City, NJ on May 28, 1946, son of the late Jeanne (Bottari) and Robert M Zoppel. His spouse of 51 years, Nini (Marshaus) Zoppel, survives him. He grew up in Muhlenberg Township and is a 1964 alumnus of Muhlenberg High School.

After high school, he attended Albright College and Oklahoma State University and served in the USAF as a staff sergeant. In his storied career, Robert worked as a corporate pilot at various companies including Sunoco, VF Corp, Teamsters, and Northern Telecom. His aviation journey began in Kutztown and he perfected his craft worldwide. Robert was a dedicated volunteer and enthusiastically shared his passion for skiing, baseball, and Ford Mustangs.

He will be missed by members of the Evergreen Club, the Reading Liederkranz, Quiet Birdmen, Berks County Mustang Club, Flying Dutchmen Ski Club and San Marco Society.

In addition to his wife, Nini, Robert is survived by his son, Robert Victor Zoppel, of Jackson, Wyoming, his brother Richard M. Zoppel, of Sandgate, VT, and his sister Jeannie A. Zoppel-Bowers, of Leesport. PA.

His services are private.
