Born on February 6, 1949, in Scranton, Joseph was a lifelong resident of the city he loved. He graduated from the Scranton School District and Scranton Technical High School, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to service and community.

Joseph proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy in Las Vegas. Following his military service, he returned home and embarked on a distinguished career as a firefighter with the City of Scranton. For decades, he served with honor and bravery before retiring from The Scranton Fire Department Engine Company No. 10 on East Mountain. Joseph’s life after retirement was filled with joy and adventure. A proud resident of East Mountain in Scranton, he shared many happy years with his late beloved dog Hoppy and his longtime partner Roberta Baker. Together, they made cherished memories traveling annually to Las Vegas, attending baseball games in Boston, visiting casinos on Sundays, dining out, or simply enjoying coffee together.

An avid sports fan, Joseph rooted passionately for the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates. In his youth, he played baseball and was an enthusiastic basketball player – interests that stayed with him throughout his life. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and granddaughter Victoria Rosar, who brought him great pride and happiness.

Coffee held a special place in Joseph’s daily life; whether it was Sunday outings or weekly meetups with friends like Bill Boughton, these simple moments were among his favorites.
