CLEMSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Clemson City Council reviewed the final reading on Monday for a development that neighbors have spoken out against.
The development would be on College Avenue across from Jaycee Park.
The developer, LV Collective, said there will be two buildings. One will be eight stories with 650 bedrooms and the other five stories with 110 bedrooms. There will also be a rooftop pool.
One resident at the meeting said in opposition to the development, “It’s only gotten bigger after citizens have come out and said please don’t do this to our neighborhood. We know something will be built; it doesn’t have to be the tallest building in Clemson. It doesn’t have to be the most dense building in Clemson, and there doesn’t have to be a party pool on top of it next to a neighborhood with young children and retirees.”
Council members said the growth of Clemson University drives the development.
City council voted to approve the final reading five to two.
