The anticipated snow storm has arrived.

According to the National Weather Service, the Lehigh Valley area is under a Winter Storm Warning through 1 p.m. Monday, with up to 10 inches of snow in some areas.

The snow began falling after 3 a.m. Sunday. By 5:30 a.m. in Easton, the streets and walkways were coated in snow.

By 6:30 a.m. plow and salt trucks were working the roads around Centre Square in Easton.

According to AccuWeather, snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour were expected to last through midday Sunday. The snow will mix with sleet at times Sunday afternoon and evening.

The last major snowfall that hit the Lehigh Valley was back on Feb. 1, 2021, when the Lehigh Valley International Airport recorded 22.4 inches of snow.

The most recent storm that left 9-12 inches of snow was back on Feb. 13, 2024.

The Lehigh Valley will be battling not just the snow, but the cold, too.

Temperatures will remain below freezing with wind chills bellow zero degrees through this week.
