Pittsburgh Steelers captain Miles Killebrew underwent knee surgery, he revealed on his social media. Killebrew suffered an apparent severe injury against the Cleveland Browns, which head coach Mike Tomlin has deemed as ‘significant.’ He was placed on injured reserve Thursday.
Killebrew laid down on the ground for some time before being helped off by trainers and putting little weight on the knee. He was immediately ushered into the blue medical tent where he was then carted off the field into the locker room.
He has been selected as the team’s special teams captain every season since 2022. Killebrew has been a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro with the team since inking a deal with them.
He has four special teams tackles so far this season, and has become a mainstay on all of the Steelers’ units as a critical piece for them in that phase of the game.
Yet, without him, they will now have delegate his responsibility to others and be without one of the crucial spiritual leaders as well for the remainder of the game and potentially longer.
Kenneth Gainwell took over as the team’s personal protector on their punt team, which was one of Killebrew’s key roles.
