READING, Pa. – Reading is gearing up for the next steps of the City Revitalization and Improvement Zone, or CRIZ program.

That’s a state program that aims to revitalize cities by offering tax incentives to spur development.

The state says it determined Reading’s CRIZ baseline is around $3.5 million. The figure is a reference point for calculating annual growth in the zone, according to the state.

It approved the program for 130 acres in Reading at the end of last year.
