(WHTM)– A group of Democratic Pennsylvania lawmakers proposed a resolution, urging Congress to withhold DHS and ICE funding.

The resolution, proposed by State Rep. Tarik Khan and others, comes as a response to the fatal, federal law enforcement-involved shootings, which resulted in the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Pretti and Good were both killed during federal immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis in January 2026. Both incidents have sparked discourse on both sides of the aisle over whether the involved law enforcement officers were justified in their actions.

The resolution calls on Congress, including Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation, to withhold funding for DHS and ICE “unless real reforms are enacted.”

The lawmakers argue that providing billions of dollars to these organizations without reforms in the wake of these incidents sends the wrong message to the United States public and that funding should come with stronger oversight, clear standards, and accountability.

According to the memo, the requested reforms should include “clear and enforceable use-of-force standards, independent review of serious incidents involving federal agents, visible identification requirements for agents during enforcement actions, timely release of body-camera footage following deaths or serious injuries, strengthened civil rights protections within DHS, and a requirement that federal agencies cooperate fully with state and local authorities when incidents involving federal agents occur, including shootings and other serious uses of force.”

The resolution has not yet been submitted for introduction.
