PHILADELPHIA, PA — Vehicle and speed limit restrictions were lifted on Monday on all highways in the Philadelphia region, PennDOT said.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation lifted all vehicle restrictions that were in place due to the weekend storm on all interstates, the PA Turnpike, and major highways across the region.

PennDOT then lifted speed restrictions around 11 a.m. Monday on area interstates and several roadways in the five-county region.

PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, but those who must head out will see restrictions lifted on the following highways:

Interstates 76, 95, 295, 476, 676. U.S. Routes 1, 30, 202, 422. State Routes 63, 100 Spur, and 309.

PennDOT will continue to treat roadways until travel lanes and shoulders are clear.

PennDOT asks motorists to allow plenty of space when driving near plow trucks. Also, for their own safety and the safety of plow operators, motorists should never attempt to pass a truck while it is plowing or spreading winter materials.

PennDOT reminds motorists to pack an emergency kit for their vehicles. A basic kit should include non-perishable food, water, blanket, small shovel, and warm clothes. When preparing an emergency kit, motorists should take into account special needs of passengers such as baby food, pet supplies or medications, and pack accordingly.
