A Code Blue has been issued for Erie County and the city of Buffalo.

It comes as Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for all of New York due to anticipated severe winter weather over the next few days.

An overnight shelter will be open at 100 E Tupper Street Buffalo from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Breakfast will be served for 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. A daytime warming shelter will be available at the same location from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m.

Those needing transportation to the shelter can wait at the NFTA Metro Transportation Center from 5-7 p.m. to obtain bus tickets there.

A Code Blue goes into effect when the temperature reaches below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. To receive Code Blue updates, text CodeBlueBuffalo to 898-211.
